I've been inquiring into an Aluminum fuel tank from Omero in Italy & I was wondering if anybody has bought one of these from them?
If so has was the fit & finish on it & were you happy with the product?
They claim it is slimmer then the stock configuration so that combined with the aluminum look has me intrigued but it's been sorta hard to correspond with them as my italian isn't very good & neither is their english.
Hopefully someone here has a real world experience with one.

The Omero tanks are works of art. Fit and finish is tops. Looks, well, like a work of art.

As an alternative, there will be a similar sized tank coming through normal parts channels by May/June, that will likely cost you less money than the Omero tank.

I hope this help

Thanks for the insight.I'm aware of the factory option in the future but the aluminum is well aluminum. :)
I just don't want to drop the coin & then be disappointed with the fit & finish which it sounds like I won't be!

damn vintage

my mates met the eyeties (mates we do the oktoberfest in munchen with) over at modena 6 weeks ago and they came back here for the england v italy rugby match 9 days ago. could have got one to here and brought it to Moab as hand luggage!

never mind....

Would've been interesting trying to board a plane with a petrol tank!
I'm still debating pulling the trigger.Sure does look sleek in pics & the aluminum looks like it's a good fit on the Berg :)
It's a lot of Euros for shipping though.

here's a question, why did older bikes go from alloy/steel to plastic tanks to begin with. If there was a good reason I would pass on the alloy if not then woohoo.

I collected my 06 look Omero tank yesterday 8) :D

Did not buy it from Italy but from Daniel Persson, one of the Husaberg WEC guys from last year (he will not enter the full WEC this year unfortunately). It is laying in my Renault Master outside work right now. Will go to the garage after work to get it on the bike.

So far I'm actually not all that impressed, some of the welding looks not "factory" and so on. But it has been raced all around the world for an entire year as well as in the ISDE last year. So some battle scars are acceptable
Filled it up with water yesterday in my kitchen to see exactly how much it holds - 6.9l !!

I'll post my thoughts tomorrow after mounting it.

JockeD,
did I see that you were bidding for , or selling an '06 Tank and shrouds on ebay???

did you buy it, did u sell it, wassup? the ally tank sounds smick though.

in fact if anyone here is going to do away with an '06 tank and shrouds, I'd be keen to take it off your hands...
Azza.

that looks sweet, would be really nice with an anodized black finish for the full stealth look.

No, wasn't me selling. Did put down a bid for a yellow 06 plastic one with shrouds. A guy from Hungary that sold it. Didn't get it which was just as well since I later found out that he wanted an extra 50% for shipment...
I think he had more than one tank.

Let me know how you find the fit when you get it mounted
Thanks
I actually was in the garage yesterday to get the studded tires on the new 450S and couldn't leave the alu tank alone, hehe. Did just throw the tank at the bike and it seemed to fit fine. I haven't got the shrouds yet so a later, more serious, fitting will soon take place.

the difference in slimness is this.
Both tanks width at lower match point of tnak and seat ~8 inches
Stock tank at front at bottom of shroud (near bolt area) width ~13 inches
Omero at same location width ~10.5 inches (thats right 2.5" difference!)

Well I took the plunge and ordered up the Omero.I guess I'll need an aluminum gas cap to go with it. :)

When you get the bill, would you mind posting how much in US $ it ended up costing?

too bad there was not a a couple of folks wanting to make the order, so that shipping charges may have been reduced.

I'll let you know & I can tell you it's too much without having the actual exhange rate but I did get it at dealer cost so that helped a little & hey I got the bike at a steal so I figure I had some extra dough to splurge with.
I'm guessing with freight(which is killer but unavoidable) it's gonna be in the $500-600 range.

OMERO TANK

Hey does Omero do a smaller Berg tank for the 06 -07 ?
Is there a site that sells them or has details on them ?

Thanks Raddog
