Hey guys, been a while.
I sold this bike a couple few years ago. It was in great condition and ran excellent. Well, it has recently come up on CL in the parts section. It looks terrible. It's missing: clutch cover, kickstarter, shifter, radiator, complete exhaust, carburetor and associated cables and throttle assy., tank shrouds and miscellaneous nuts and bolts. That's just the stuff I saw when I went and looked at it. It's not locked up but the internal parts under the clutch cover are rusty from being exposed to the outside environment. I will mention that it is California street titled.
My question is, can these parts still be had? If so, what would the cost ultimately be?
I'd love to get it back and make it run again. However, it may be too far gone. The answers I receive here will dictate what I do next.

He's asking $300.00 but would take $200.00.

Thanks guys.

Bruce

You can still find pretty much any part on ebay, save the ol girl or atleast get it for $200 and sell the parts on here...poor bike....

I saw that listing and it made me sad. I once had a 2000 FX600E and it was a fantastic bike. I might actually have some of the parts needed for it. I have a clutch cover for sure and, so long as the clutch components weren't significantly different between the earlier engines and that 2000, I might even have those - clutch basket, plates, pressure plate, springs. All from various '94 thru '96 vintage engines. You might still have to find a few odds and ends, like the clutch cover gasket. I have one but am keeping it in case I need it for one of the two bikes I have currently running the older engine that uses that clutch cover.

I have a saved ebay search for Husaberg parts and all of the parts you mention - kickstarter, shift lever (I might have one of these also), radiator, used plastics, etc - come up all the time. Especially for the older (pre-2001) models. The parts that are specific to the 2000 engine - the hydraulic clutch parts and I'm not sure what else - are somewhat rare, though but that stuff appears to still be there. The exhaust might take a while to replace unless you're ok with a Big Gun aftermarket setup. Those pop up quite often as used parts on ebay. They're not always in the best shape but they'll at least get you going. I prefer the stock exhaust, though, because the Big Gun is really loud.

Taking another look at the listing, I definitely have the primary gear, all of the kickstart parts - gear, shaft, pawl, spring, etc. It's all used but definitely in better shape than what's there.

I appreciate it, thorgan. I'll try to get in touch with the seller again and see if his offer to take 2 bills still stands.
i'll let you know. Thanks, man.

one way or another, we can keep you on the Berg.

Reminds me of the 99 fc501 I bought for $100, taken partially apart and left outside! It is worthy of saving at least

Okay, been awhile but I'm back to the poor ol' FE600.

Had it for sale for a bit but just couldn't commit to getting rid of it.

I have accumulated some parts but still in need of--kick start lever and retaining bolt/washer, all the clutch cover bolts, stator cover bolts, starter clutch cover bolts, wiring harness, carburetor to frame boot, cylinder head to frame breather boot--and I'm sure there will be more the deeper I look.
Of course I will need new gaskets and seals for the engine covers as well.

I purchased a cherry carburetor from a 2001 FE650. Will this carb. be compatible on this bike?

After all this time I've had the bike back, I have not tried to turn the engine over. Well, I hung a wrench (spanner to you boys outside the US :) ) on the primary nut and it spun over with no weird noises. Unfortunately, it spun over too easy--no compression. I could feel resistance from the valve springs but that was it.
Anyone want to take a stab at what might be the issue? I'll post up some pics of what I find when I remove the cylinder head.

probably nothing wrong with it. they can sometimes do that....no compression....start them....compression. Just try a drop of oil onto the piston to help the rings to seal.

try me for those parts, i have most of them in stock.

the carb is good but what was wrong with yours or was it for the 2mm? They are carbed wrong from the factory so whatever and whichever carb you start with would need my easystart kit.

I also mount the choke up on the bars at its own perch.

cheers

Taffy

This is brucifer. Unfortunately, I did end up selling this bike. However, I'm keeping a look out for another one, hopefully an FE650E. Honestly, an FE600 would probably be just fine as well. Looking for a fixer-upper, though. Trying to keep the buy-in price low.
