Water pump gasket leaking

Question for the group: my water pump seal is more than just weaping, it’s leaking about and ounce or more after each ride. Would it be proper to put in a new gasket, or add some gasket sealant to the original gasket and call it good. Thoughts?

what year is your bike? cover flat? try and rock it on a window or mirror. is it a webbed cover from 2002+

is it coming from a weep hole on the front face of the engine behind the hose?

2008 husaberg FE 450. Not sure if it’s the seal or gasket. I have a gasket on order. Hope that solves it!!!

Found out it’s the “weep” hole . Little hole behind pump. Is this normal??

Weeping coolant or oil from the weep hole is the Achilles heel of a Husaberg. It is the most common issue and plenty has been written about it.

Taffmeisters sells a kit with all of the parts needed. You will notice it contains a bearing with an oil seal on one side of it. This is often an overlooked item that should be replaced when replacing the water pump seal imo.

Once the water pump shaft ( actually the counter balancer shaft ) begins to wear, from the lip of the seal cutting a groove in the shaft, a very small amount of coolant weeping is considered normal even with a brand new seal.
