Hey guys, bit of a **** day on the old husa(08 fs650c), about an hour into the ride bike suddenly started running really rough. Stopped for a beer at the pub but that didn't fix it, nursed it back home and have noticed some milky oil running down the front of the engine, i thought head gasket but oil seems to be coming from above there. it doesn't look oily in the level glass. Any ideas where to start?

Cheers!

Pics or it didn't happen.

Milky = water pump seal is gone (perhaps)... but maybe not in your case...

Leaking = different problem.

These two combined suggest an issue in the head whereby the coolant and oil are mixing.

Your description isn't quite adequate to present a solution. The (exact) location of the leak will be a key clue here.

I think the two may be separate or indirectly connected.

you are possibly weeping oil due to the oil trap hose splitting. so check this. the other thing it might be is the neck that it fits onto on the rocker cover. this can unwind.

then agaui, if for some reason your enginbe has had a bit of a catastrophe and it's running poor and trying to throw oil out the top it might be that there is excessive oil now finding that tiny split.

Cheers guys, I didn't have time to have a good look when i got in so will get the tank and plastics off after work and take some pics. Hopefully noting too major ad it's summer here and everyone's riding every day!!

So leaking was coming out of a split breather pipe. There's also a snapped valve spring in there. Am now stuck with getting the cam chain off, do I need to split it? Or do both the cam bearings come off which will give you enough angle to get the chain off? Or undo the bottom cog that the cam chains on? Sorry can't figure out how to send photos?

Cheers guys!

Awesome thanks, are the owners documents for an 08 aswell? Are the engines from 04 to 08 pretty much the same?

Cheers

Awesome thanks! So I've never done a rebuild on a 4 stroke before, the valve spring was broken when I opened it up so I'll be replacing all the valve springs, what else should I be replacing while I'm in there? Head gasket, cam chain, cam bearings, valves, piston? Any good upgrades to do aswell? It says on the owners doc to put dual valve springs from a 4 50 sx in, will they work in the 08?

Thanks for your time!
