ok, .. where can i get a rivet link ?
im not sure if i have an iwis chain .. the links have like an M with a 3 inside the legs of the M if that makes sense ?

the IWIS chains I have look like this

http://www.tscusa.org/images/tech/Timing_Chain.jpg

sometimes the J is an I

66 link IWIS

Part Number: 80036013000
Description: TIMING CHAIN G67BW 66L 03
501/550

and rivet link

Part Number: 80036013050
Description: RIVET LINK FOR TIMING CHAIN 03

the DID and the reginas have their names stamped on them

DID is cheapest ($23) lightest and has solid rollers not split like the others.

DID is longer than the IWIS when new and the regina shorter.

66 link DID

Part Number: 80036013100
Description: TIMING CHAIN 66L DID 05
550

DID rivet link
Part Number: 80036013150
Description: LINK FOR TIMING CHAIN DID 05
DID-CHAIN

hmmm my chain marking looks nothing like that Iwis one .. give me a minute i will go and take a photo and see if it can be identified.

ok so here are the markings on my cam chain.
the chain has 33 of these "outer links" with this marking on ( tho the marking isnt obviously on them all haha).

that is the worst cam chain of them all bar none I'm afraid.

I've tried fitting an IWIS link in other chains but they aren't wide enough as IWIS use thinner plates.

I think the (worst) record for a 3M chain is like 8 hours.

3M yes that would make sense with the markings, ... ok, well i have had no previous experience with them so i'll just take your word for it. whats the most reliable chain .. iwis ... DID ... or regina ?

DID and IWIS

you won't have trouble with either. I've had various owner's say that the IWIS is a better chain but it's hardly scientific.

Taffy

Hi

Don't have other experience to compare, but let me just tell you that I have a IWIS for 5 years now, and last time I check (a few weeks ago) I still have 5 clicks left.

This is with the newer blade installed.

and in the UK they are £49.26 from trevor pope's.

he's from the UK. its a UK price like mine is a UK price.

you shouldn't put a new link with an old chain.

it is the weakest link and has to aork from the moment it gets on the sprocket and all the other links do nothing.
