Hi !

I found 39mm Keihin FCR with t-cables and t-cam for about 88 GBP
Question ? Is it worth to mount it to my FE400 ,i read on forum about the benefits of it but the jetting gives me a creep 8O .

Hi

I'm in that process in this right moment, so I can tell you my dificults.
First you need to know what carb is that, MK1 or MK2, they are different you can serach for images or POST and you will find out. Then you have see if its production carb or not, like Taff says, the difference is if you can bolt on a belmouth or not, the one you can should be the to look for.
Second, if you have a E_Start than you are starting the serious problems, specialy with the MK2 that is my case, because the MK1 has a angle to the front that clears more easely the start motor, and the MK2 goes strait down.
In my case I've cut the bottom dischage to have more space and its not enough.
Now I've cut the intake bubber 7,5 mm to fit the new carb and still have to cut more to perfect fit my carb, Taff says its 5mm, but not for mine. After you connect to the intake firmly you have to conect the belmouth and then pull the carb up and finaly conect the boot to the frame and do it firmly. This is not a good solution for me, I will make one alumin. intake a buy the 04 intake rubber, when I have money !!
I forgot to tell that bought from Taff one belmouth and one Jetting Kit, so don´t count only with the money from the carb.
And last beause I had no space I've chaged all the wiring to the other side of the bike and located the starter relay on the frame, old style, like my 98 bike.

So this is a bit of truble if you have a starter, I've considered taking it out !!!
I hope in the end its worth wile !!!

I will let you know..

Thanks for the reply it helped me to decide.

I have struggled a lot with my intake too!
The boot of a <03 will fit too, but i have fitted it with a piece off thick hose (radiotor hose from a Truck) Will post some pictures when i find some spare time!

Maybe that alum. intake not so cheap with transport !

Could you give the dimensions of this part ?

Thanks

Hi

Thank you for your trouble, I have everything and I'm strouggling with the intake and not yet tryed the bike.
I will definitely in the future make the alu intake, but because I'm a cheap guy I'm trying to make a intake with a hose from a truck and the original intake, its easier for me because I work with rubber. But its not a solution that I recomend to every one, if I can finish it I will post a picture here.

I'm looking for your informations.

Thanks

I have been struggling with my intake from the beginning, buth with the alu intake i finally got is properly fixed.
I have a ´02 enduro build in progress, and i will fit a CRF FCR (mind the spelling lol :p ) too, with the alu intake and the 04+ booth.

Will post pics & updates in my gallery 8)

HI

Have you checked the dimensions of the alu. intake for me ?

Thanks
ZAGA

Will do tonight just got the package (for my enduro) with the part :)
My SM already has it fitted.

Hi ElSonoro

Thanks for your help, it looks very good !

Since this part is straight, the elevation of the carb will be done by the rubber intake ?

When you fit it in to place, could you post the pictures ?

Thanks

Yes it sure is a quality piece.
The elevation of the carb is indeed done by the rubber.

I will post some pics of this setup on my Supermoto tonight :)

I saw now in your gallery the solution you have made to protect the seals when fitting the clutch cover.

Great idea, I will try that !!!

Hi
Thanks Elsoro for your pictures, but my big problem is to clear the e-start in my 400.

Do you think this solution clears the e-start with no problems ??

I don't have problems in the boot sice I've changed the belmouth to fit the old boot.

I will post some pics of my cheap solution later, but I'm not happy with that.

Hi

Here are some pics of my cheap solution to install the fcr and clear the e-start.

intake.jpg[/attachment:11rte52k]

This was not a good solution since it gave me lots of work and I steel have a air leak.

I even invented one boot to be easier to mount.

boot.jpg[/attachment:11rte52k]

I'm going to the solution of the new intake rubber, my question is, can I make the alum. inlet strait and still clear the e-start, or do I need to make it bend up to raise the carb more ?
