the new 680 and 700 engines have nice specs

anyone ridden one? its the handling and chassis design that im curious about

that'll basically be a MTH sidecarX engine converted to solo use. you can do that, they can't give the engines away now....

Taffy I liked what I saw when I sawthe Maico 700. But I don't understand your comments:
What is MTH ?
"they can't give the engines away now...." What does that mean?

I only see this:

well log in then!

are you going to buy one? sounds like you're very interested. MTh make bored and stroked maico engines for sidecarX applications. everything is going 4T though.

No I will never buy a Maico 700 but it looks sensational. I am real keen to buy a Burger with the lot (FE570). Rode my mates FE450 2008 around Lue Thumper Track last weekend, felt like I was on top of the world.

ahh thats a nasty confirmation code I feel 3/4 tanked reading that

a cr500 on methanol was an alternative to my berg I chickened out cause I didn't like the idea of high fuel consumption for trail rides. I bet the 700s use some juice too.

freind of mine said............. looks nice on paper...................... its still a maico

Hmmm....
Last I knew this is a Horst Leitner/ATK/Cannondale addition. There was a test done in one of the U.S. dirt-oriented mags a couple of years ago. My fuzzy-brained  recollection is that the bike wasn't as good as the same years dealer-built CR500.... Ah, one of you older guys must remember reading the article, too!!

I remember something to that effect as well. Seems like it was article on ATK importing those engines for their bikes. If I remember they were going to have three displacements available, 500, 620 and 700cc. They were manufactured originally for sidecar racers. I'll see if I can dig up the article.

Here's the ATK in question. They aren't listed on the ATK website anymore however.

Hmmm, left hand starter, right hand sprocket, can't think what else that engine would fit in to?

Now that is an interesting proposition. During the summer months I was thinking what can I do to make an even faster supermoto. Although the berg is quick, pretty damn quick compared to most SM's out there, there is always the desire for that little bit more and I couldn't come up with anything light enough that would fill the gap. I seriously lookind into putting a RGV 250 engine into the Berg frame, Stan Stephens in UK can tune them to 70+ bhp with ease, I had one, but it was just too long due to being a V twin. A 700cc 2 stroke single has to be a monster of an engine. Unfortunately I can't imagine them being cheap, Taffy, your a side car man, can you get you mits on one?

well yes, they are there for sale as i showed you the link. spend your money on the sidecarX site.

Taffy

I kept the picture of the Maico 700 from the Ebay add
