Good day everyone...

Just wondering if i am being paranoid again or if husaberg is the way it is...

I put approx. 10 hours on the bike this season... And ever since I bought it it always made the noise that I can only try to describe.

it sounds like a chain is flopping around and its just a loud rattling noise.

It happens specially going over bumps and gravel roads.

Last time I took it out, I was doing 100 km/h on a gravel road and it was fun yes... but the noise was loud enough I could hear it through my helmet and all the wind...

But get this, When I press the clutch and coast the noise is very minimal. Like almost none. I can free rev the engine while i coast and the noise is not increasing...

What could this be???

Paranoia?

the noises are inside your head somewhere!

LOL!!!

5there is a chance that it is the sprague and the freewheel wobbling in their respective bearings?

there is also a good chance that it is the gear on the end of the crank coming loose.

I liked your 1st response better... Now I wont sleep...

But if its true on the second post.... What do I do?

Simply open her up and check for all that wobbling sprague and freewheel?

Sorry for a newb question - - - whats a SPRAGUE?

And I should also check the gear at the crank for tightness?

And would this only happen when the motor is under load (in gear)? Because it only does it when the bike is moving... faster = louder

Thanks a bunch

YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE BY HAVING A LOOK.

the crank nuts come loose. Husabergs have a multitude of noises when something may be going wrong - many can be similar. that doesn't mean a multitude of problems. infact they can have few problems but spread over 30 different parts of the engine and all making a rattle or a whine. If I heard it I'd have a better idea but that is all - an idea!

have a go. just be careful removing the left cover, the waterpump seal can catch = bring the cover off square so the lip falls into the groove on all sides at once. you'll see it.

It might be??? I am not familiar with the tensioner noise...

Would it only do so when in gear? under load?

my 400 would give off a death rattle at speed when slightly off full throttle. sound comes from the front sprocket and chain rollers and an occasional rubbing of the chain on the battery box.

NED: Does it keep doing it when the clutch is in?

The noise drops to almost quiet if I press and hold the clutch in....

To be honest now that I think about it that is exactly what it sounds like.., Chain and sprocket rattle.

yep. look at the battery case next to the chain and see if it has any scars. mine sounded like the cam chain was coming out or the skid plate was falling off, but both of them were fine. new chain and sprockets solved it.
