I've been told my piston is at the end of its life.
However it looks barely worn. There are no big gouges and the crown looks good too. I'm wondering how it can be worn when the original machining lines can still be clearly seen? Surely if it was worn there would be marks.
This is the piston...
I recently replaced the countershaft sprocket and noticed there is quite a bit of wear on the spline where the sprocket sits. After taking it for a ride I can now move the sprocket back and forward around 1mm......Is this a know issue for this bike?
hello! I checked the cams when i bought the bike, i could not find any signs of wear. aproximately 1000km afterwards i discovered small shiny chunks of metal in the oil screen. Turns out that cam follower bearing is chewed away along with the camshaft on the exhaust side. Unknown when camshaft...
2005 FE550. 3rd owner, 358 hours, 13000km, unsure when it was last rebuilt, or ever. I’m getting lots of metal sludge and shavings on my drain plug magnet and I’m trying to track down the source.
The plug in the picture is after 1.8 hours (fresh oil) and there’s quite a bit of stuff on it...

Had a typical follower bearing failure in my -02 650 fe berg and found out that the needles in the bearing have "curved" the inner part of the follower. Is this dangerous? How worn can the followers be before they need to be replaced? Is there any cure for this or do i just need to buy brand new...
I was checking the torque on the bolts today and found out one (out of 4) of the front wheel clamping screws threads was completely worn out.
I took out the bolt and found this:
