hi guys, Im in the process of rebuilding my bike, Iv looked over everything and then it donned on me that i don't have a thermostat??? ive some some inline ones on the later models. can someone shed some light on this? should i get one?

I had my 09 450 boil up in the woods and noticed some water coming from the thermostat housing so while checking it out, i removed the themostat now it leaks, there does'nt seem to be any problem with the rubber gasket so what gives? has the housing warped? or am i just useless Lol

There is a black plastic housing spliced into my radiator hose. I'm guessing some sort of thermostat of sorts. 08 model. Is this necessary? Can it fail? No dirt bike I have ever has had this. Temps are pretty moderate here in Oregon should I just leave it well enough alone.

I noticed that my FS650e has a thermostat but the FS650c does not. Is it needed? Why does the e have it and c doesn't?
