strobe

Hi All i'm sure this has been covered before but can't find a thread, looking to set the timing on my 02 fs650e with a standard strobe light and wondered if one of you guys could tell me how many degrees advanced the line i should be marking to set this up and what revs this should be done at...

not really comfortable with back lights and stuff like that so i was wodering how folk best do their ignition timing? i prefer a strobe but at what revs do you check when you don't have a revcounter? which position for the high/low switch? i have re-marked the crank 7 degrees in...
