shifting shaft

Hi, So I was riding along and went to shift down a gear. As I do, I hear a metallic clunk and my gear lever goes limp and won't reset itself. Manage to get to where I was going and turn the bike off for 5 mins. Go to try and start it again to get home and the E starter is just whining. Tried...
