    2002 fe400 gear ratio radvice

I spend most of my riding at the lower speeds in technical trails. I rarely see 5th and 6th gear and if i do i'm not pushing the bike hard. i have seen 14/52 suggested. in my experience it seems that would be a bit tall. I used to run a 12/50 on my xr. what gear ratio would be good for...

    close ratio gearbox

it seems you haven't been telling the truth you lot! you promised me that the close ratio gearbox amounted to no more than dropping in the 6th gears from the old FC470 and that was that! but you lied! when i went to measure up the box today from a 2000 FC501 i ran out of fingers! i...

    Turning ratio

I tried Berger's 496 and it has a much much nicer turning ratio than my 2001. How can I improve the way my bike turns? I don't expect to make it as nice and easy to turn but any advice would help!

    Sprockets final ratio

Is 48/15 normal on a 2001 Fe501e? I cannot find in the parts and instructions manual anything that says what should be standard on each model. As I find good opportunities on eBay to replace my sprockets and also experiment with different ratios, what do I need to know about what fits...

    'Berg/KTM gear ratio comparison

I was wrong, sprockets weren't 16/40, manual is wrong. I pulled the rear & it's a 45, front is a 15, I should've looked before ordering. Anyway, I'll correct the numbers. Sorry for the misinformation! After riding the bike the first time I noticed how tall it was geared. Did some...

    1997 WIDE RATIO TRANSMISSION

I have a 1997 FC501 and it has a close ratio transmission. I was wondering if anybody knows if I can just change fifth and six gear or if I need to change all the gears? The reason for wanting to change to a wide ratio gear box is because the bike is daul sported and while going down the road to...

    650 Compression Ratio

I have a 2001 FS650e which destroyed the roller bearing on the exhaust rocker arm so I'm currently having head work done while it's apart. Has anyone milled the head to increase compression and if so, by what amount, and any negative side effects. Thanks in advance.
