melting

I just spent half an hour getting black melted plastic off my pipe. I used a knife blade and 1000grit wet paper, worked like a charm. I then took the bike for a spin and got home and guess what, more black plastic stuff. Looks like my pants are melting on the pipe. Does any one have a fix for...
