fc550 or supermoto

Hi guys, I am thinking about buying my second Berg,an 02' FC 550.My question is I would like to make this bike a supermoto/street bomb but I'm not sure if the 6spd trans would be good for this set-up? Is there that much difference between the wide & close ratio transmission...
