2003 470. what would i need to do to as electric start to my bike? is it worth the cost? how much would it cost?

I ride a 2007 fe 450 and i was wondering how reliable the electrical start is supposed to be. I have a brand new battery and the bike has under 350 miles. I was told that I should expect to kick it 90% of the time because the electrical start is unreliable. Is this true? Thanks
