So After rebuilding my bike i was having issues with the gears.
Turns out the old shifter drum bolt which holds the drum to the star piece wasn't tight due to old loctite stopping it pulling in all the way.
Saturday i went 38.8miles to FOWLERS of Bristol my local KTM dealer hoping to rebuild...
My 2001 fe501 has been spotty on shifting for the past 8-10 rides. Generally speaking it would not up shift until it warmed up.
But today near the end of a tough ride in sand washes it became stuck in first gear and would not shift out, not even to neutral. Had to limp back to the truck...
hi.
im putting my husaberg together, got the new parts today. I had a problem that 2 of the shift drum pins were loose and they broke position star. Now i dont trust that pins would stay in its place only by pressing them in and position star on.
Does the position star really lock them in or...
Hi all!,
I'm a bit confused about the shift drum in a 501FE 1996 engine, it's a 6 speed gearbox, but if I'm not wrong (which I probably am! :D ) I can only find 4 unique positions on the shift drum + neutral. (The bike was unable to start after a "repair" and sold)

Hi, does anyone know what material the gearbox selector drum for a FX 470 is made from. Mine has had the point knocked off on 4th gear position so will consider a weld rebuild if I can identify the material. Cheers, Stu
Fourth gear on the secondary shaft has a broken tooth and i think its because the shift drum has too much play in and out( left and right when viewing the enginge from above).
I'm having trouble finding out if the shift drum should have 2 circlips holding it in place, one inside the engine...
Need some help with reinstalling the selector drum and the position star on my 2002 650.
First question is a stupid one but I'm still gonna ask it to avoid later worries, is there any way to install the selector forks wrong in the selector drum? Or is there only one way? The installation went...
Okay, freakbergers, I put the pshb carb back on my 96 fe600 becouse no stinkin' carburetor has ever whipped my butt! I cured the loading up\flooding problem as I discovered that the idle air bleed to the pilot jet was restricted. Among you who offered advice or ridicule, Taffy wrote,"those flat...
the drums run straight out of the cases and i have considerable wear in the engine and some on the drum shoulder. it seems that they only contact over half the width of the allowed surface.
anyone else ever spotted this upon stripping?
whilst i'm here has anyone handled the later gear...
Hi guys, need some more help, at the moment I'm rebuilding my engine after replacing all the bearings. Thouble is the manual instructs that one of the pins on the selector drum (the pins that locate the selector star) should have a flat end, and this pin when positioned towards the front of the...
