PART ONE - INTRODUCTION TO THE MAIN CIRCUITS AND WHAT THEY DO IN THE CARB.
i don't very often start a thread here now. But I think those of you with a 1990-2003 bike may well be very interested in following the workings through this thread.
So, the target was easy starting which has...
Hey up!
Just to let you all know that I'm in the slow long slog of tuning the standard 40mm carb on the 650 2002 model I have here.
as many of you will have seen on my Facebook page, we had the NTB650 starting with virtually no choke. if this can be cured it will but it will come...
It has been happening like a thick fog now for some time, you just plough on and get the job done but I recently fitted a sprucwe up kit to a dell orto 409mm carb and to get thew float arms right I had to bend them up.
I have noticed this before and not thought too much of it but a job this...
the next experiment we're looking at is going to a hybrid atomiser.
as some of you know, Husky and early Husey's had tall 'windbreaker' atomisers. they were about 5mm tall. the later Huseys don't even have the 'windbreaker'.
so I have been able to start experiments with the hybrid...
I've been working on an answer to starting issues for over 15 years now and pretty much have it nailed down. especially when I fit a Keihin carb to the earlier bikes instead of the dell orto.
but customers pay for the bike they bring in to start and not for a conversion to FCR! and after...
Hi everyone, new to the forum, just purchased a 99 FS600. It starts and idles fine, but stumbles when you give it gas.
The owner bought it new and said it never ran right with the stock carb, Edlebrock. He purchased a Dell Orto PHM40
and said had it jetted. He was cleaning the carb and broke...
Just to let you know that we have lost 5 hours today between two men.
we have had a Husaberg in that needed the carb kit to spruce it up a bit. so usual job, needle, atomiser, fuel valve etc, etc.
we put it on the bike and as usual it leeked a little but we tried to carry on as the...
ned? et al
why is it that when you open the choke fully open they never start? why does it have to be "just a bit?". i suspect two things: a lack of air speed through a massive hole which then can't draw up the fuel or the fact is you have to restrict the air and that restricts the amount...
hello
not very often we develop something new on the older girls now is it!
i have been converting the manual decomp to operate the choke knob on a few bikes recently and beside the fact that it's a little shorter than desired it has been fine!
one thing to note though was that when...
well i have a 40mm dell in my hands and i'm about to have a play pretty soon. i have drawn up some needle designs and will be having them machined up one at a time. i'll be making the needle straight a little fatter and working on the tip as well. i ran a K11 7 years ago and it was quick...
just recently i have got back into dell ortos for the first time in 5 years or more. immediately i have tried the drilling mod on a tuned carb and and what a change that made!
next, i listened to a bike on choke and realised that it was too big. loonyberg now uses the #40 and loves it...
i know that dale L has converted dell ortos to run keihin. any leads on this?
i have been offered a dell orto and intend to convert it if i can.
regards
Taffy
having many failings i feel i have big enough shoulders for simon to point them out now and again because in balance of these i have my 'up 'n at 'em' attitude that gets things done.
one thing that has sat there makng me think "poor children!" has been the this thread long acknowledged in...
OK, so I decide today would be a good day to do the pre-season usual maintenance on my 'Berg, a '00 FC501. I need to completely go thru the carb as one of my list items, as it was sputtering when last it ran (Spring '07: I know, I know, I wish I rode more often, too, but that's not my reality)...
Hey all,
I wouldn't be surprised if this question has bee asked a bunch of times already, but I haven't found it yet. Now, is there a jet and needle kit available for the Dell Orto? Or, do I have to buy just single parts? Also, is there a book available that describes tuning proceedure...
I found a guy that is selling Dellorto PHM 41's. My 98 Husaberg FE501e has a PHM 40. Would this 41 work? Would it be better? Would it physically mount in position? My current phm 40 is worn on the body where the slide goes. I think it would be best to replace it.
thanks in advance,
hi all guys, a problem has occured with my husaberg fe 600 and its phm 40.
it is impossible to make it idle correct, the idle screw behaves more like on-off switch (when i screw it in there is no linear response to the idling speed) and as for the mixture screw i had to screw it all the way in...
rode a FX470 at the weekend with a dell orto fitted and it was noticeable how strong/violent the thing was from a closed throttle.
i just checked an old thread on a race last year and spotted the same comment when i borrowed a FE400e from colin spicer. even the 400 jolted me...
many years ago whilst road racing i moved to mikuni after 10 years of dell orto (they were out of date even then!) after i'd moved on i heard about a mod to the back of the slide cutaway? coronaberg told me that he had tried various carbs and had found the carb containing a slide with a small...
