Haskell in Idaho told me about this fix he made for his 09 570 to keep the junk out of the weep hole, and the water pump shaft area. Anyone who has replaced their water pump seal on the 09 on up bikes has probably found a good deal of grit in the area between the water pump seal and the engine...

I just did another oil change and I noticed the inside of the filter housing wasn't the normal clean machined surface - alot of it was but there was also thin crud zones, grey in color in various spots around the housing. I can't imagine what this is and I don't recall it being there last...
