countershaft

I recently replaced the countershaft sprocket and noticed there is quite a bit of wear on the spline where the sprocket sits. After taking it for a ride I can now move the sprocket back and forward around 1mm......Is this a know issue for this bike?

I hope I did not but the seal was quite difficult to remove and I was using a offset screwdriver to get behind the metal lip of the seal and pry it out. When I got it out I saw that the brown/yellow plastic piece just in front of the roller bearings had a nick in it. It is not all the way...
