thanks to ausberg the secret of the rather narrow pair of counter balance bearings is out. i'm having a few sets of them machined down and will let you know what they work out at. i have noted that USA prices are too good for the bearings but i might make some of it back on the machining...

hey there guys, i am seriously thinking of removing the counter balance on my 2002 fe501 and was wondering wether the spacer can be the bearing that normally sits there or does it have to be made out of steel ?? i am going to be getting the crankshaft balanced after the balancer removal...

in the doc..it says it is possible to remove the counter balance to eliminate possible failure ..have any of you done this ? if so is the vibration really bad ..if it is can this cause any other problems ? also can the counter balance bearing inner ring be removed and used with the spacer...

Cheers all! Over ther years, twice I didn´t make it to the finish line, due to the counter balancer bearings. So I´m standing here with my eyes back and forth between the counter balancer and the bin... Before deciding, what balance factor is commonly used with the counter balancer...

I have a 05 550 fc and was wondering if the back seems to stiff for the 4.6 springs up front? It came with a 8.0 new and 4.6 springs. I am 210 lbs with no gear. What works for you? Thanks

Hello all, I have seen that normal factor is about 70% or +10 or -10%,without the counterbalencer. But when do you have to take 80% and when to take 60%?? What with a small displacement---bigger displacement?? (400-450---550-650cc engine). Thanks in advance, Madero

What do you guys think about balancing the wheels on a dirt bike? I noticed some large weights on a dual sported Husaberg. When I enquired about them I was told that from 40+ mph without a computer balance the wheel(s) will hop causing you to loose contact with the road/terrain. It made sense...

Counter balance shaft gear keeps coming loose ? I've replaced the woodruff key as the old one broke up. There seems to be no wear on the shaft or gear and I trimed the new key down when fitting it but the noise has come back again ? Any advice Guy's. :oops:
