backfire or stalling

Let me say first off that this new to me 450 starts when cold with the choke OK. As it warms it tended to hesitate and stall. Advanced the idle screw to eliminate this. Now it runs fine at throttle settings that are even or accelerating, however when you back off even slightly it backfires...
