I have a 2008 Fe 650 with 32 hrs that just started to have this problem. It cranks over for 2 seconds then starter gear must just pull in and spin. It kicks in on the initial button push but after a couple of cranks it pulls out and just whirls. I've searched some of the forums and see a mention...
