First, I promise I searched all over these forums all day long for this specific issue before posting this.

Went to start my bike yesterday (2010 FE390), and the starter was turning over normally and it started up for just a second and cut off. Tried it again, and this time it just turned and turned. Here's a list of the things I've checked so far:

Plenty of gas in the tank.
Fuel filter isn't clogged, and neither is the screen at the bottom of the fuel pump assembly.
I can hear the fuel pump cycling, and after I drained the fuel out of the line, reconnected, and tried starting, it had cycled more fuel into the line.
Spark plug is sparking. Replaced it anyway, and there is fuel on it when I pull it out after trying to start the bike.
Battery terminals are secure.

Am I forgetting to try anything before I take it into the dealer???

I would shy away from the quick start :? It will dry the cylinder walls and valve train. Extemley hard on the motor made to start cold dead diesel engines.I would not use it on a gas powerd V8

fedge

i dont think one quick 1 second shot of either would hurt it, if sprayed right into the intake behind air filter like noppy says, fedge is right dont use it repeatedly and dont use much of it at all, if it started, you have eliminated everything but the injector or power and ground at the injector from the pcm, which can be tested at the injector with a test light, or you could remove the injector and watch the spray pattern, you know you are getting fuel in there already because the plug is wet, then the injector is likely clogged and dribbling fuel instead of misting it in, resulting in a wet plug no start problem, i personally dont use either myself, i really dont think it would hurt once but i also dont think you need to in this scenario, i would check for pulsing power at the injector, i am assuming it only has two wires and should pulse, if you see it pulsing, then i would look at the spray pattern, from a distance of course........ :-D

I'll try to pull the injector tomorrow check how it is spraying. Still EXTREMELY new to this, so hopefully getting to the injector won't be too much trouble!

You don't have to use ether. Just pour a shot glass worth of gas into the throat of the intake. If it turns over and fires you know it's not getting fuel for some reason. It usually takes a few revolutions to get it to fire this way. I have done this a few times on my FX and friends FE570. One time issue was unplugged FI plug another it was faulty fuel pump that was pumping but not at full power.

Long shot but have you recently taken the tank off prior to problem? I removed my tank and when putting it back forgot to connect cables that run from the back of the tank towards battery. Bike fired then stalled then just turned over. Long shot as I say..............

The cable at the back of the tank is definitely plugged in. I thought that was just the low fuel sensor in there? Would that keep the bike from starting?

Cleaned the fuel injector out, but fuel still isn't coming out of it. I'm thinking either the TPS, MAP sensor, or possibly the pulser coil. Fingers crossed!

so you have made sure there is no power pulsing at the injector then to assume one of these other components are failed? wouldnt these other components be a input to the pcm, then the pcm or ignition control module of some sort signal to the injector to fire? it can still be the injector if the power is pulsing but its not releasing fuel, i would make sure theres power at the injector and review a wiring diagram

I had to give just a little bit of gas to start the FE390 -10 I had, that is very common with the stock map. Dont know if you tried or do it?

No, I've never had to do that to get it to start before. I have another fuel pump coming just in case the pump is working but just not quite giving it enough pressure. Fingers crossed...

Well, before I got a chance to try a new fuel pump, a lady crashed her range rover through my garage and house. : / On the (small) bright side, I'm getting a new FE390 out of the deal!

Jezus, bad luck.

But if we don't see pictures, it has never happened!
