Hi all,

does anybody know if forks from fe600 and 640Adv (wp extreme) use same tubes?
I need to replace one tube in my husaberg fork (pitting) but I can only find parts for ktm which I know was 30mm shorter (900 vs 930)
Ktm tube is 698mm long, anybody knows how long is Berg tube?

just go ahead and buy it. EVERYTHING is surmountable. I believe KTM only used that fork for one year on one model right? 1994 or 1996?

I have foud out meanwhile that 2 versions (at least) of WP Extreme were used, one with 668mm tube (overall lenght 900mm) and one with 698 tube (o.l. 930)
Ktm used the longest one on LC4 640 Enduro and I have been lucky to find one used leg with broken caliper mount and tube in good order for few quids that I have bought from germany.
Shorter version was used on LC4 640 Adventure
So it seems I can fix this at a reasonable cost, a brand new tube is like 500€ from KTM!!
 
Hi again, I finally fitted husaberg yokes with DR stem and I am now approaching wheel and brake.

First problem: the wheel axle I got with the forks seems short, see picture. When inserted from the right leg there is a 3-4cm gap on the left leg and the bolt cannot be installed

Can anybody tell me what should be the lenght of the axle? Forks are from 1998 FE600 (or they should at least...)
I got fork, yokes and axle from the same vendor on ebay, it seems weird that the axle is incorrect...?

Second problem: got a front wheel and caliper from a 2000 KTM LC4 Adv (chosen because of 300mm disc) but I miss spacers and most of all I discovered that it is not the caliper bracket to cope with the larger disc but it is the fork foot to be different...

Is there any relocation bracket for this fork to install the larger disc? I know there are for KTMs

the easier way would have been using forks from an '88 rm250 (43mm like the dr), or (easiest) just change the dr springs and buy a ddc (drop down cartridge) from cogent engineering. btdt

Not always about the easiest Ned. Sometimes smarter can be harder. He will have a more rigid (less flex) front end.

rm forks with stock springs worked great with my lard ***.

I rode a ‘99? 501 with WP Xtremes back in the day and remember thinking they were the best forks ever so I got a set off of a ‘98 KTM 380 years ago that I planned to swap onto the old ATK. Never got around to it, but will do it eventually.

Ah well, seeing as we're going a bit tangential, I like the Extremes on my FE501, but I love the USD CC WPs I fitted to my DR650. Best forks I've ever used, and a real big benefit was the increased rigidity such that they still work when cranked over, braking, and generally under stress. All my forks get valved and sprung to suit me by someone who knows what to do too.

Now with a big valve 790cc top end and Nova wide ratio gearbox.
