I have a 2011 FE 570S. It has WP Closed Cartridge. Had the suspension lowered about three years ago. Probably time to change the fork oil. Do I need to change oil in the closed cartridge, or can I just change oil in the sliding tube/ spring chamber. Thanks

Needs to be changed in the cartridge too. It is straightforward. The big thing is to understand how to bleed the cartridge correctly. Once the rod extends all the way out on its own you know it is bled right. Also you will need a needle and a set up to set the air pressure in the bladder. It is fine to use regular air in the fork bladder as it does not heat up like the charge in a shock does.

There are many good how to's on the web on how to service these forks. If you get stuck let us know.

Hello Boogie

Can I ask you a question?

if 1,000cc of fork oil could do with a change, what could 200cc in your rear shock do with?

we often talk about how we need regular engine oil changes on the Husabergs because they only hold 900cc but then we go up to our forks and shocks and always remember the forks.

nowt as queer as folk!

Agree, my impression is that the rear shock is as, if not more, important to have in good shape for overall feel and balance. It also works much harder with less oil.

Regarding forks Slavens have two good videos.
