Worn Countershaft FE570

I recently replaced the countershaft sprocket and noticed there is quite a bit of wear on the spline where the sprocket sits. After taking it for a ride I can now move the sprocket back and forward around 1mm......Is this a know issue for this bike?

From memory, there may have been some weak countershafts in the field, and then they may be somewhat sensitive to wear in certain situations - as I recall if they're used on pavement with tires that have little give in them, then shock loads seem to wear the countershaft. It may be related to how the front sprocket is fastened? Not sure abt that; The fix in the situation above is to add flex to the driveline: tires with longer knobs, and cush hubs or rear sprockets.

Thanks for the replies. The guy I bought it from was road riding it so maybe that has something to do with it

When I replaced my cs sprocket I went with an aftermarket cs dome washer that supposedly has a composition that retains more "springyness" than the OEM one. The idea was that it would hold the sprocket back against the bearing better. They are selling only that this extends the life of the oil seal but might help the splines too. I paid the $25 because thought it cheap insurance against replacing the cs.
