Hey Justin here,

I was curious about the specifications in how the Husaberg FE 650 performs out in the woods, like steep hills, rocks, occasional windy trails. You know all the good stuff. I ride at the Oregon coast most of the time and there is some rocky stuff and hills. I'm curious if the 650 is good for this kind of stuff cause I love power and torque but I'm not sure if it is to fast. I'd like to know the torque and hp of 650. I was also curious of what people think of the performance of the KTM EXC 525 on the same kind of trails compared to the 650. I'm going to buy the Husaberg or the KTM in like two months so I'm just curious about what people think of these bikes for woods riding. Anybody got any comments? Thanks!

Hello Justin

I don't think fast is the right word in this context because the 650 is diffently fast just not fast in the woods, you would have to be an animal to ride the 650 as fast as you could ride the 450 or 550 in the woods.

I do all my riding in Idaho on high mtn. rocky narly technical trails and anybody I ride with that has a bigger displacement than 500 has the hardest time for sure.

I think the choice of the 650 is an awsome choice I am just not sure it is the best choice for the woods.

There is my 2 cents hope it helps :D :D :D :D

In my favorite woods trail with hills
and roots and some mud I ran the
gambit quicker with my friends 200EXC
than I did with my 470 Husaberg or my
380EXC. Ofcource when we ride two track
or open trails things change.It is hard to
get a do it all size bike.If I was to pick
a four stroke for the woods it would be
a 400 or a 450.

Exactly. I own a 03 FE650 and whilst it shines in the open stuff, the short stroke/ light crank combos rule in the scrub (woods). The 650 lacks that NOW! throttle response/quick rev that its short stroke siblings have. 650s belong in the desert, and if it must be a 4 stroke, 450s for the woods.
I have absolutely no hope of sticking with my 65kg friend on his 04 200 EXC in the nasty stuff on my 650, but can keep with him on my 300 EXC.
Suming up: 650= Desert
450= Woods
550= all round weapon.

i've still yet to get a second husey rider to try the ktm 14 or 16mm yokes. they change the bike. i have 13mm of fork through the top and 14mm offset.

different bike. not only 100% stable on the straights but turns quicker when under 4mph in the woods and getting between trees.

it's a must....

regards

Taffy
