So, I have this starting issue.

At first I thought it was a faulty stator, bought a used one, checked the resistance and it was spot on. Installed it....nothing.

Started looking around and the ignition keyswitch had connectors corroded off. After much trying to go the cheap route I gave up and ordered an OEM replacement....5 weeks later it arrived and I installed it. Still nothing.

I suspected there was no spark so I attached a spark indicator, it lights up nicely. Maybe the plug was fouled? Replaced the plug...nothing.

Maybe the battery was not up to snuff, charged it up full and left the charger attached at 6A charge......nothing.

It cranks over but doesn't even pretend to try and fire.

Any ideas? Where would you go next? Sadly I am starting to suspect it may be a carbuerator problem.

Go easy on him Taff.
He did say that he had a spark.

But etcbrown, ya didn't say you were kickin it - only cranking.
Ya gotta put the work in if ya want these babies to start - especially if they're not quite right.
If it's gettin fuel then check the valves.

Kicked it until my poor left leg almost fell off, also tried the button (but it never really started on the button....ever).

It is in fact getting fuel. My worry is that the float has malfunctioned (sank) and it is flooding itself. I know nothing of the DelOrto carbs and unfortunately neither does the authorized Husaberg dealer here in town.

One other thought, I suppose the stator timing could be off. How do you check that again?

Hi etcbrown

If the floats sticking it will spew fuel out all the breathers - trust me!
It'll do it even if the level is set too low.
But if it's got spark, and it's got fuel, and air's goin in then all it needs is 1 more important thing - compression.
Engines 1-0-1. Compression = valves.
You say it's always been hard to start. When did you last adjust the valves?
If it's been hard to start and then 1 day just wouldn't you should've started here.

Sorry, forgot to answer the other bit of your question - stator timing.
It'll start in any position, begin with it in the centre of the slot and that'll be OK.
