Hi

I bought a plastic Head light from the Husa dealer (it's listed in the Husaberg parts manual for the 1997 FE400), but I am having trouble finding the correct bulb for it. They don't have it at the gas station. It is not an H4 as the glass head light has.

Anybody know what I should be looking for?

The 97-98 Owner's manual (hopefully soon to be available in the downloads section) lists a 65/50 watt type P43t for the non-US version and a 45/40 watt type BA20d for the US version. The headlight shell listed in the parts manual is made by UFO.

I suspect that if yours was an H4 halogen then the headlight insert was not original. The H4 will tend to melt the standard plastic lens.

The bulb that was in my plastic headlight when I got it was a 35/35 watt but I'm not sure what type. I changed it to an H4 unit from a Husky after the second bulb melted itself in place in the reflector then blew.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Brad!

I have searched a bit on the Internet and found that H4 and P43t is the same. Perhaps p43t stands for the socket type? Anyway the OEM glass head light comes with an H4 inserted.

I couldn't find any bulb that fitted the plastic (also OEM) head light (tried several auto part stores), so I took it back to the dealer. Even the dealer had no clue what bulb to use...I got the money back and I am thinking about getting a UFO twins firefly (or something like that). Perhaps the BA20d is the correct number for the plastic one?

Thanks for that info spakur. Good to know the that one bulb listed in the manuals is actually a H4.

It seems either my light had been replaced with a plastic unit or perhaps the bikes imported into Australia are of the US spec.

I'd guess that someone broke the glass head light and discovered that the plastic was half the price and changed...but what do I know...

I bought a headlight mask off of e-bay and it came with the plastic headlight the bulb was broken but the number on it is:
OSRAM BILUX 7351 SLOVAKIA 12V 45/40W -T798-
It is a twin post design. I searched google for "OSRAM BULB 7351" and came up with this:
http://www.donsbulbs.com/cgi-bin/r/b.pl/7351-osram.html
Looks like something you should be able to order at a local parts store.

Sorry to revive an old post fellas, but does anyone know a common part number for the 12v, 45/40w BA20D bulb? Perhaps Sylvania or something I could get from the local auto parts store.

Thanks,
Rob
