No ,John Long Kelsow
FWIW John Long was the man to beat in AMA 250 junior road racing in the early seventies on a 250 Yamaha td series. He was often in the mags as he not only was a consistent winner but was able to tune ,transport and ride the bike basically as a one man team. His bikes were named "Longevity" as he managed to get way past the useful service life on many high stress componets.Correct me if I am wrong but I do remember he was also a Daytona winner on a 250.
I first went to John's shop in Miami about fifteen years ago, and when I started with BMG, he was the second person who I thought would be a good new Husaberg dealer. Taffy, if you get a chance to visit John's shop, please take my advice and do it. The place is amazing, he still owns just about every TZ that he raced, 750, 500, 250, all are covered in dust with original tires rotting away
I'd say conservatively that there are 200 vintage bikes at his place. In addition to John's racing and technical abilities, he's also quite accomplished at sailing, and at draining bottles of red wine.
John's "one man band" mentality has kept his business from growing out of control over the years, but he's legendary to those in the know. He and his sons Barrett and Justin are frequent visitors to my house in CA when they are on the west coast. Barrett and John just met up with Loire Racing and me at the last round of AMA Pro Supermoto in Denver. Barrett got out there and gave it a shot, and he learned that it's not as easy as it looks     In addition to being one of the slowest guys out there, he also took out his team-mate Colin Horn in the LCQ :sign6: :sign6: :sign6: but at least he tried.
Anyway Taffy, John carries a limited amount of Husaberg inventory, but if you need something from him, let me know and I'll inform him of your lofty status. Or call him yourself at 305-325-0775 but if you mention my name, be prepared to pay extra
Cheers,
Brett Saunders
