having only been riding a dirt bike for 5 years exactly i have had a lot to learn about what dirt does to a bike. i've learnt maintenance intervals and what to change and when.
i've now learnt a great way to keep wheel bearings going. it's nearly two years since i had to change wheel bearings and the secret has been to flick the rubber seal out on one face and re-grease. this continues to work and the main reason it's so good is that it leaves no room for the water to get IN!!!
i also did the lower heim in situ tonight in about ten minutes flat which was easy. i knocked the bottom of the shock out, levered the half cups and rubber rings out and then rolled the central ball roller out and around cleaning it before re-packing with grease and re assembling.
i think i only just caught that one though this time. the roller is changing colour to that gunmetal grey that says it's on the edge. the point is, if you know that the top heim is going to be good then the bottom one is done just as well in situ.
cheers
