Okey, everything started when i posted a picture showing alot of metal stuff on my oilplug magnet. Some people suggested that my main bearings were broken. I have finally got the engine open and have taken some photos for you guys: (If these arent good enough, i can easily take more) .

All opinions are more than welcome, specially orangeberg's(who has allready helped me alot)

ps. Transmission gears are in topnotch condition!

Here you go:

i would next check the big end bearing and camfollower bearings.

Can you be little bit more specific. Were can i find this "Big end" bearing :p?

You have to split the crank your big end and big end bearing is under the rod your metal will be coming from one of these pop into your local dealer to press the rod out .

the lower rod bearing or the bigger end of the rod.
cam follower is the little roller on the rocker arm.

my money is on the cam follower.

Hmm, does this help:

I think this photo is worthless, have to take better ones tomorrow

I don't think it looks too bad!

I would check for axial float at .5 to .65mm if you can and just get on with the usual checks and build back up carefully. the piston looks good enough to go again, just get some new rings and maybe hone the liner?

those slivers of steel can be from many, many moving parts.

I put the shavings off the magnet in petrol and wash off all the oil and greasy gunk, then you can see the colour

if they are shiny silver flakes I look for a bearing if they are grey longer chunks its probably gearbox dogs

what Orangeberg is asking for is a pic of the underside of the mainbearing inner races you do have them shown but pics are from above (if the engine is at TDC)

if you setup the crank and rod so its about 1/4 of the way through the downward power stroke and then try to twist the rod it should show up any dammage, might not though.

the drainplug thread looks nasty, could the owner have been changing oil through the primary filter hole only ? so there looks like there are a lot of chunks but its just built up over time.

looks like your counterbalancer has been removed also.. nice stuff !

They are silver flakes for sure. Theres allso those silver flakes on the oilscreen(smaller though)... :(

Quoting the previous owner "There is usually pretty much flakes on the drainplug magnet, but it is normal for husaberg, so nothing to the worried about!" :FF

hey I just had the a bearing on my cam go bad. double check them.

This is what trouble looks like

The help is much appreciated folks!

But i still cant locate the problem... All the bearings are in good shape and no wear on the engine blocks.(except the small camchain wear)

Maybe Taffy is right. The flakes are just random (normal)wear around the engine?

I dont know if i should open the crankshaft? There is small gap(sideways), but i think its normal? see the video above. I have inspected specially the cam section very carefully. No gap to be found and everything moves smoothly as they should. I cant even find any metal flakes lying around inside the engine blocks. Everything simple looks great.

Ps. There wasn't any gasket between the engine blocks. What kind of stuff should I use for sealing?

Merry xmas

the crank wants to float 0.5 - 0.65mm. the rod wants to float 0.45mm.

that's 0.020" - 0.026" and again 0.018" for the rod.

Taffy
