Anybody know what I should be paying for a piston and rings for my '96 501 husaberg? Right know I'm looking at $400 canadian. My buddies are telling me to sell the bike. I'm telling them to go to hell.

All I could find under motoexotica was musclecars, harleys, and such. Have you bought husagerg parts there before? Under one of the Wiseco websites it said that berg parts were coming soon. Does anybody know if and when this is true?

Oops, my bad. I notice there is no E in motoXotica. I sent them an email and will see what they have to offer. I can't believe I misspelled Husaberg.

MotoXotica is a banner sponsor of the site, check above for the link.

Also, ask Dan about the Wossner pistons. They are comparably priced to Wiseco.

No E? Sorry about that.I have heard nothing but good
reviews about them,let us know what you find out.

MotoXotica is awsome so far. They replied to my email same day with a quote on the parts I requested plus parts I didn't but are connected to my problem. Here is what they told me[The bike is a 1996 501 Husaberg];
Piston kit=$160.00
Rod, pin, bearing=$318.00
Crankseals=$40.00 for the pair
Main bearing=$28.00 each
Timing chain=$60.00
I'm waiting for to other places to get back to me but if they take more than a day then I'll go with this. The prices sound fair. If anybody thinks different let me know. The piston was a bit less than I guessed but the rod was a bit more. But it all evens out. My bike has been in pieces for 3 days now. Hopefully it will never be this clean again.

You might get better prices, albeit at the cost of more dicking around, for bearings, seals & cam chain from a general bearing supplier. I'm fairly sure they are standard. There was a list of equavalent numbers for a later model in a thread a few weeks back. Apologies to the author as I can't remember who it was. If you do, just be sure that replacements are same or better spec than OEM.

When I did my 427 conversion a few years back (501 head and piston on a 350) I used a stock 501 piston and a ring set from a Yamaha XT350.
Got um from Premier.

Hi there!

Im living near a piston manufacture(r/er?), named Wössner, and i have been told they would deliver Pistons to Husaberg, and one can get a piston there for ca. 150 EURO.
If u like i will ask for a piston for ure Berg, but im sitting here in Germany, so i think MotoXotica is cheaper?
Anyways, if u want ill ask...
Greetings!

Well for now I'm just playing the waiting game. I've ordered the piston and rod kits as well as seals, gaskets and bearings. The total came to about $647.00 US. Won't know for sure until tuesday when all the parts arrive. The real test will be to see how long they take to arrive in Canada. The bike should run like a top after all this, there isn't much else to go wrong.

Mac501, I did all of that on my 501 and then had the transmission main shaft bearing (clutch side) fail 10 hours after reassembly.

This time I replaced all of the ball bearings in the engine.

Best regards,

Joe

Brad, the numbers and prices came from Deaks (in mechanical, 22 July 04), pretty cheap cam chain?
