what battery??

Hi guys, I just sold my '97 fe501e and bought an '03 fe400e. She's a wee gem but won't start with the e-start, the battery is the problem so i was wondering what the standard battery is and if there is a more powerful replacement. Thanks for any help. The battery has been tested and found faulty. Jared

Yuasa YTZ7S is the one (standard on 04-05)

Charge with an Opti-Mate III charger to achieve 13.5 volts.

The Optimate comes with one direct connect lead which makes it easy to hook up. Keep it pluged in after every ride for longest battery life.

Be sure to fully charge your new battery before installation. If you don't it may never fully charge properly due to battery memory.

I had the same problem when I had my 02 650...the 04 wasn't around then(or wasn't in the country by that time) and trying to locate a battery from an independant specialist was sometimes a minefield.
I ended up getting a 7amp battery for a crf 450 from a main dealer which worked out surprisingly cheaper than the independants or the official berg one......
might be worth bearing in mind.
I also recommend the optimate. My 04 is attached after evry race meet/outing and never fails off the button
