After almost 3 years to the week my 501 is back together, MOT'd and taxed and I'm going for a trail ride tonight :)

Getting to this stage has been a bit of a trial to say the least, which kind of ended with me getting the hump and ignoring it sitting on the bench for the last 18 months !

Looking forward to tonight though........

Took me 18 months to finally get my 02 Fe501 going right.
Did my first enduro on it last week - weyHey...fell off 3 times & it still started off the kick 1st / 2nd kick.

So worth the effort.

Have fun.

Thankfully mine has always started well on the kicker (no e-start, took it off). I had the counterbalancer shaft bearing break up so it needed a rebuild. I decided to get a matched set of gears on the clutch side (01 model) to cure the hideous whining, the problem was that it took GGR 9 months to get together all the parts I needed by which time I had the hump !!

Glad to see it back together, with no counterbalancer this time. Got it running on Castrol R at the moment so it even smells good. :D

Hi Taffy,

Haven't spoken to you for a very long time !!

Our short little friend is still 'berg mounted, he was last heard talking about buying an 09 450 8O

The picture was at Weston about 4 years ago, the engine at that time was an MVP 650 2t single, makes about 80bhp and is an absolute beast. We changed it for an Aprillia 650 4t which is much better for Enduro, does lack something down the straight at Weston though  The outfit hasn't been run since the autumn last year when we flipped it at about 50mph on a right hand stubble field corner, Colin was not able to move much for a few days after so decided to put it away for a while whilst we both learn to ride properly. Currently using a '50's Ariel trials outfit in some pre 65 meets.

Hope your new business is doing well, need to see you for a bigger starter and battery at some time.

Cheers

Barry

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: WeyHey

last time i saw you i borrowed colin's bike to finish a race.. never been so glad that it was all done by transponder in my life!

i'm heavily into the sidecarX now what with the husaberg 650 engine being such a handy tool. i help mark kinge's outfit/team and was at the belguin GP last weekend with them.

ride a bit myseld but the ol girl isn't much of an advert and i'd rather not be seen out on it.

catch you later

regards

Taffy
