I am experiencing the old oil leak from the weephole. is it still possible to buy the Orangeberg kit somehow? I have emailed John Prior but no response yet (I did read somewhere that he may not be a 'Berg dealer anymore so I'm not sure if he is still doing these kits?).
If not, what is the best fix? It is for my 2004 FE650.

Hoping for good advice from the gurus here.

Cheers

Gday Axel

John has a real job now but working away ..he'll prolly answer when hes home.

I made my own version with a alloy insert to take a different bearing and seal, if you have access to a lathe you could make one up.

I also tapped a 3mm thread into the weephole and carry a 3mm screw with me ......

a lot of people get the OEM setup to work OK

cheers
Bushie

Thanks.
I have seen your stuff on that other forum and I am nowhere near where you are in terms of being able to machine stuff, both as far as machinery or skills go. Not even close.
If John is not doing the kits any more, I might have to rely on the standard OEM parts. Are they still the same as back in 2004? I thought that perhaps KTM had come up with a permanenet fix of their own, especially if the Orangeberg solution is no more.

he posted a few weeks ago that his kits still go out so i think its still possible to get hold of one .......

the OEM setup is described pretty good here

if you are careful installing the integrated bearing/seal so the seal doesn't pop off

and you don't damage the o ring when installing the cover it should work fine

if it were an ongoing issue weeping oil despite best efforts Id try putting some 1207 B on the o ring for lube during assembly and as an added sealant when it cures

Update for the purpose of closure; I did buy the Orangeberg kit plus other seals and gaskets from Taffmeisters.
The bike is back together and no leaks whatsoever!
Life is good!

Glad to hear it!

As an FYI, here is a TSB from Husaberg that solved many an oil leak from the weep hole.

Note that your oil level should be at the bottom of the site glass when cold, and in the middle when hot.
