just for fun i thougth i would let people know i have 705mi

on my 06 fe 450 & have not had to adjust the valves!

& the first ride on her was not easy, started out with a 24hr race!

granted this sissy tryed to do it by himself & fell a little short,

only made it 300mi & decided i wasnt having any fun so i quit.

No im not a quiter but the trophy wasnt enough to entice me to

keep going, lord knows i dont need any more tropys.

04 to 06 valve trains do not need to be looked at untill there

hard to start, or for some unknown reason there is some

horrible noise!!!!!!!! the best advice i have is keep the oil clean

at least every 100mi & keep air filter clean that should keep

all of us out of the shop for unessasary work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOW THAT is valuable information! especially when someone is comming into the 04-06 range from an older bike, like me... used to checking those valves every 10-15 hours...

I would have had those valve covers off after the 2 ride... The BOSS says leave em alone unless there is a problem...

Thanks for the advice...

that MAY be true, but

The 2006 Husaberg Owners manual periodic maintence schedule on page 24 says to check and adjust valve clearance after/every 15 hours. Valve clearnces of 0.12mm are listed on page 58. there are no illustrations, no instructions, no nothing about how to check and adjust your valves in the owners manual. Maybe there is a factory shop manual which does this?

This site and other sources will tell you how to do this and all about the 1/8, 1/6 turn and that 0.12mm = 0.0047" etc,

I have ordered the Husaberg valve adjustment tool to assist me in doing my own valve adjustment checking. I have learned how to get the valves in the right position to be checked and adjusted. I will use a feeler guage........we shall see in person on day with I recieve my tools or soon if i go buy the tiny screw driver I need.......and I may get a long feeler guage and i willl see if on the 2006 bikes 1/8" turn equals 0.004 or not.

because I'm beginning to think something is wrong in denmark, after wtaching that mechanic do a 1/8th turn there is NO way in hell a 0.004" feeler guage was getting under my valve lash part thingy.

I do agree, if it's not broke dont fix it.....but that was my jetting lesson, with valves........I had to learn ......I want my feeler guages. unless all is good and its my jetting again. but that for the other post.

MY POINT is HUSABERG should include more infomation/ instructions on valve adjustments part of teh owners manual.

other then my bike is running like crap.....I love my FE450e.

hey Bigbob,

it will all be ok soon i have a feeling.1/8 is very close may be a scosh

tight in my way of doing it,however if your relieing on the e-button its

better to be a little tight than to loose for the sake of your e-parts.

But as for husaberg to provide more info maybe your right.

All four stoke engines use the same pricipal for adjustments.

must be at top dead center & that is very easy to find no?
