Any of you had any luck replacing valve seals without pulling the head to compress the spring? Needing to do them on both our bikes. Mine (the wife) 09 Fe450, & his 16 Fe501s (husky).
Basically looking to see if anyone has had success with the "on bike" spring compressors. If so, which 1's.

i thought the question above was kinda clear... but..... what did you use to compress the valve springs that would fit from a top side perspective on the 70 deg engine.
be the same general issue with the newer big bore bikes

Never tried this but someone told Me to put in Manila rope in spark plug hole till you can’t put any more in then turn engine till it’s a little compressed holding valves up of course remove rope after your done. Reason for Manila rope is because any small pieces of it in the combustion chamber will burn off. Again haven’t tried this

This part I'm good with, done it many times on jetski engines to break the flywheel loose. It works easy.
With the 4 strokes you just need to watch the amount of rope so you don't get some rope hanging the valves open when the piston compresses the rope against the head.

The thing I was trying to figure out was a tool to get the collets out, then back in.
