12 hours break in! you do love your new berg then Johny :D
I generally have valves checked 4-5 hours , just to check all is ok and in spec.
Then 50 hours , then 100 hours.
I will probably get shot down ,but i know from my 08 ktm how good the valves are on these engines and you usually know if anythings amiss when you push the button.

RE: Re: valve check how often!

The way I read the manual, you check the valves at 3 hours, 15 hours (12 hours after the first check - the bike is now broken in), then at the 30 hour point.

Thereafter, if you ride 'competition', every 45 hours. If you ride 'hobby', every 90 hours.

Based on what I have read here for some time, and how the bike was running.......

I checked my 570 valves at 3 hours, then at 43 hours. At 43 hours they are at the maximum lash, .006" intake, and .007" exhaust. At 3 hours they were .005" intake, and .006" exhaust. And, that seems to be the trend with the W head.

I will probably check them in another 20 hours or so to monitor progress a bit more closely.

I would go ahead and have them checked now since it appears that you did not have them checked at 3.
