Hi Guys,

What are the best tools for adjusting the valves (FS650).

Thanks

Andre

ok thanks,

What is the best way to get TDC? Do I need to buy a special tool for that?

Thanks

Andre

Andre,
Motion-Pro distributes offset disposable feeler gages that are particularly well suited to the Husaberg. Your local Cycle Gear most often has several sizes in stock.

Your late model Husaberg engine has a locating port which accepts an 8mm bolt to lock the crankshaft near TDC.

Put the bike in TDC. It´s not an exact science. Well it is if you really need to have the engine in that position for some reason. Setting valves does not demand an exact to the mm TDC.
First time you can locate it with a screwdriver or whatever down the sparkplug hole. Be sure to be in compression by watching the valves as you put the piston on top. Go back and forth with the flywheel a little bit. No motion on the valves = right position. Motion = 360 deg wrong.
Punch a mark in the flywheel and carter to faster find it the next time.

The valves you can set by loosening all nuts. Screw the setting bolt down until you are on 0 tolerance. Do it a few times to see that you get the same position on the setting bolt and then go back 1/6 of a lap and lock.
Fast effective and accurate. I never measure it anymore and sure as hell no shops do it either as 1/6 of a lap will ALWAYS equal the same measurment.
