I'm getting ready to call Motoxotica to get some parts to try to upgrade my engine. I'd appreciate any suggestions (except the one about getting a newer bike!). I'm thinking solid-roller cam chain. THe Doc doesn't really go into much depth on the older oil slosher engines. I don't want to break it down too far as I'm getting ready for my assault on the Mid-Missouri 40+ motocross series. Thanx, Corey

The Short List of easily reached items include:
-Camchain - Dan should have some Regina chain left. 600 is longer than the 501. Or contact Dale Lineaweaver for a length of his chain.
-Rocker Rollers.
-Cam bearings. SKF 6201 available at your neighborhood NAPA dealer.
-If you presently have the aluminum cam sprocket replace it with a new steel one - be sure to shorten the attaching screws or they may rub.
-Inspect the water pump impeller and perhaps change the water pump shaft seals.
-Check the clutch basket for excess wear from the friction plate tabs.
-Look at the shifter star for burrs.

It appears that you could use a 2003 Exhaust Rockerarm Assembly (470 up) as the 01 parts manual shows that the 01 part will fit back to 1996 and the 03 part is a definitive update/upgrade for the 01.

Regarding the intake assembly no date is shown in the parts manual but I suspect that it may fit as all the other parts of the assembly are the same as yours except the rockerarm itself . Hopefully someone knows if the 2003 intake rocker assembly would fit.

Hey , thanks, you guys. I'll call Dan and see what he's got. :)
OK, I got with MOTOX today and ordered my new Kryptonite camchain and reed valve. I'll rip it down and inspect the topend and try to figure out what rockers I have. I do know I have the steel cam gear. I also intend to degree my cam this time around as I finally found my 30 year-old Mr. Gasket degree wheel! I'll hit up Dale, et al, for some real world cam specs. He'll likely have time for it as soon as the pontification process is over! Thanx again.
