Just to tender for some interest.
I have had information that it is possible to allow civilian riders onto the tank training area.
So I want to organise a weekend of riding on the tank training area in Bovington,Dorset.
I have access to cheap accomodation and to a private bar serving ales at £1.10 a pint!

Anyone interested? We can firm up a weekend/etc as the plans develop!!!

i'm up for that mate!

it was the £1.10 PPP that did it. let me know. start by seeing if you can get to 4 and then throw some dates my way!

regards

Taffy

im still off the bike with my wrist. earliest for me would be sept, so if its before then i'm out i'm afraid

Taffy,
Feel I owe Cypher, September 20/21st too late in year for you? And 4 is good start for a warmer. And see how to improve/expand it from there.
Cypher you up for that weekend? wrist allowing.

That weekend getting anymore takers?

I may be up for a day or two. Just checked don't appear to have anything on that weekend.

yep

anytime around then. going to miss a rugby game and that's all.

regards

Taffy

Count me in - I'd be interested in joining you chaps for a few days down in Bovie'....been past the outskirts of the training area a few times and looks like you could have a good few days riding down there....

This is starting to take shape then....

I will begin to put a proper plan together and keep putting updates on here!

Sorry for the delay - been off line for a couple of weeks. I'd love to go but can't do 20th / 21st Sept.

looking like like sept20/21st is good to go!
But if that looks a success I will do more...
It seems I have access to the tank training area whenever i want.
So I could run it most weekends! I go out on there most weekends but the idea is to make a full weekend of sept20/21...espesially as you are travelling so far!!! keep in touch and we can work out something. It is such a good facility for x-country riding! I strongly feel that people would enjoy the freedom/oppurtunity it offers! and it requires such little organisation on my part!

if you mean watching a big game....that is no prob...just ride in to camp....watch your game...{accom I will get for you has 52" screen} then come back out onto area! but if you mean attending your "club game" {sorry, are you secretary or something?} then that is beyond my control!

I have a 24 hour enduro on 24-25 May, once that is done.... I will get the 20/21st September organised!! Watch this space!

Hi all.....

I would like to show my interest in this splendid-sounding occasion....
Provided Taffy has finished me bike!

Will contact you v. soon to go through the rest of stuff needed

Have fun. Scouser, keep me in touch for later (or earlier) rides. Typical.. 20th / 21st Sept is the one weekend of the year I have to work / big furniture show in Chelsea. Ho Hum..

I am getting lots of good feedback so i will get on with the organisation as soon as the 24hr is out of the way!

If sept 20/21 is a success {organisation wise} I will do some more. We have use of the area every weekend so it is just a case of getting the accomodation and finding guides etc.

That is hard to answer....
We have a few good riders, compete in Army championships and local enduros, they set course. It makes me sweat, but if you after something not too taxing or more mx style, you just miss sections out!!!!

the majority is used by tanks and AFV's so it is seriously rutted! But that adds to the fun!!!

You would enjoy it!

ok, the 24hr is over and behind us. {the team had a 3rd and only 9 laps behind the winners, so that was a real success.} anyway...I am ready to start organising the " Bovi Berg ride" . I will speak to the manager of the accomodation, to see how many I can book into the Mess. {I will go for 20th/21st of September.}Then I will ask for names for beds. remember it is £1.10 a pint in mess! so it is worthwhile just for that reason. And we get to ride on the tank training area! I will bring along an Army Harley Davidson so people can have a play on that!!!!The weekend sells itself!!!
