ady and i are putting together a 'farce ride' to the isle of man in late october. cypher has signed up and so have a couple of ady's mates.

for ady it's about his 5th time over there green laning but for me - my second. i did a full week there 'on my todd' in 2000. awesome scenery, great technical rides, a place steeped in racing and two wheeled history.

we hope to make it a dry run for late august 2008 when it will be a force ride.

keep you posted.

regards

Taffy

So, Isle of man does not belong to Britain then, since it's a dry run? :D :) :D

ok, so it's less of the dry and more of the sweet. damn there i go again....!!!!

PM me or Taffy for details.

Ady

Taffy and Ady, this is a great idea! I can't make it for October, but sign me up for August 2008. I am shipping my spare bike over to Wales to keep at my Mum's house. I will sort out the price on shipping...if not too bad, maybe some others from the US contingent might consider the trip in '08?
Don't forget to arrange for a couple of Supermoto bikes ...I always wanted to ride the TT course!

all i can say is, be careful around glen helen :crossbones:

Taffy,
I am clear of commitments late in october, after 12th. I would fancy a run out for that, never ridden IOM. so you can add me to the list, if it is an open invite!

scouser

i'm sure ady will be along to answer this and i think that we should still be ok but i'll ask him. what rider level are you at?

fruitcake?
batty?
lairy?
just plain mad?
plain dangerous?
a missile looking for a target (tree)?
numpty?
dumpty?

if you do come, have you a SWB van or owt like that for transport? we have a baboon in mid wales named cypher may need a lift (and a play on the swings) as he has a car and trailer. not ideal.

we'll let you know but we do in all honesty want to stop when the vans are full and anything after that we suggest that the transport stops at heysham and you ride over on the bike while we take the luggage and at the other end it's about 7 miles to the guest house.

so where are we at at the moment.
from speaking with taff it appears the list is;

cypher
taffy
gruntberger + brother
brookster
ady
stu
owyen

that makes 8.

then scouser says he's up for it plus i got a 1 if there's room. which would make 10.

is that do able? and who has vans?

i spoke to ady last night and ten is still good as i believe the guest house has 5 pairs rooms. i don't know who owen is?

out of the 8 you have lisetd, 7 ride husaberg and scouser could make it 8 from 10.

Taffy

my riding level is somewhere between fruitbat and numpty dumpty. i have done a couple of enduros including the army 24 hours. i did a few green laners but i was the youngest!!! so i could waste them whenever i chose but i am getting too old for racing and do not mind breaking my machine but not destroying it unnecersarily. next point.. no I do not have a van. igot a 4x4 and a horse trailer that will take bikes. i do have access to a lock up in merseyside!{ my old fellas house} sure we can arrange something!

you'll fit in nicely scouser. as ady said last night, there is room for you so that's great. may i suggest that you go up the west coast and meet cypher somewhere along the way?

cypher has a friend he'd like to take and has mentioned an owyen in his last post? i think you lads need to price up a car and trailer as well as a van? i think if cypher you and he can get three on a trailer then you'll have value for money going over.

of course anyone with a transit is welcome!

please don't book anything as ady says that the steam racket want to know what vehicles and folk we have in our group and then they will give a price.

comparison though....

put 'steam packet' in a search.

Taffy

IOM Berg

Hi y'all thought I'd write a post this time as the topic is something I know a little about.
I live on the good old Isle of man and am the only one here who rides a Husaberg in our enduro championships. (Fe550 by the way)
I think I could possibly make this trip as for once the travel won't be too hard. I could even show you some local attractions, though the infamous Doarlish Cashen track when wet is possibly the hardest track I've even ridden. More of a trials section than a track.
I forget the dates but there is a round of the UK fast Eddy series on the IOM in October, would love to not be the only berg on the start line for a change. It'd be worth watching at the least.

RE: IOM Berg

kieran

welcome to UHE!

so what made you join today pray tell????

"13-14th October - Putoline XC Championship Rd7 - Organised by Fasteddyracing.com - Isle of Man"

maybe we can hook up in the evening mate. i think it might be seen as a liberty to involve you when we are at the clag mooar. however, if you know the island REALLY well you'll know a few "unofficial" routes and you may be worth at least a cup of tea, perhaps even a beer!

what are the dates of the IOM enduro championship? i know they have a big 2-day meeting over there in july.

regards

Taffy

RE: IOM Berg

Taffy,
had a thought... toolboxes! i do not think we all need to drag a workshop along in every car/van . I got a pit box I could bring if we do need major repairs, if we need . sorted a trailer out instead of my horse trailer..but it will need modifying to take 3 enduros on.
cypher,
you need to touch base as I am picking you up on my way North, I believe.

RE: IOM Berg

apparently so. need to talk with me mate who said he'd be up for it as when we were talking the other day we were going thru those we knew we could blag a van from. thinking of that as a van may be cheaper than a car trailer combo on the ferry.
