After letting everyone down for the IOM 2007 ride. I want to redeem myself! Is there any talk of a return in 2008? Surely I will have a bike for this one!!!

do you think we'll let you come?!?!

i wish you'd kept this on the original thread but anyway here goes!

we are talking about going back during the manxgp and manx 2-day trial next august.

this is the e-mail i sent to ady who along with myself are prepared to work on it:

http://www.iommgp.com/2007/schedule.htm

ady this is this years manx gp. note that most race days the bikes finish going by at about 4pm. racing starts at 10am and the road itself is closed from 9.30am. not a problem for us as we could ride anywhere BUT you can only cross the course from out to in or vice versa down at quarterbridge on the outskirts of douglas.

MGP 2008 16 August - 29 August
these are the dates for 2008 and so the 16th is a saturday so therefore the 23rd is and 23/24 =thee weekend. 25th is a monday bank holiday and the first day of road racing. racing will be on the 25th, wed 27th and friday 29th.

these are the dates of the manx 2-day trial. it's the biggest in the uk. they used to get 300+ riders there. the dates are 23/24 august so they are on on the weekend we are aiming at! you can follow a lot of this on enduro machines although richard said that they are stopping it nowadays. they use a lot of the byways we do plus skit across a field etc.

the clunkies have ralliys all week. you'll be riding past a pub and there will be 20 sunbeams in tthe car park....it's an everyday sight.

this finishes off the race week the dates being the 30/31 august.

there is also a mid week MX event usually along the castletown douglas road. that's about 6 miles from foxdale. this would be psycho overload methinks!

there is a sprint along ramsey front sometimes and also there may be an enduro. i'll keep checking.

so scouser, to redeem yourself, you have to collect anyone coming up from spain, portugal, greece, italy and give them a free lift plus accomodation!

i will be collecting anyone from germany and the benelux countries as i live 5 miles from the A14 aand 50 from harwich/65 - felixstowe!

ady and gruntenberg may be pressed into collecting all the scando's from hull.

we have it all covered!

ady has been to richard's 6 times and wants to be there again. because i think we'll get to 20+ i have visions of 6-7 going on the two day trail ride with richard and the other 14 either doing their own trail ride or going off to follow the 2DT. point is that as long as it is clear beforehand which 7 want the 2-day trail tour with richard then i think it'll be fine!

accomodation wise well there is another house near richard that can take 6 and richard can take 10. to be honest it doesn't worry me. we can sort it all out as we go!

once ady is happy, we have some figures (costs) then we can announce it.

i don't think one american would come over as the thread i started in march after the 2nd USA force ride was quickly dropped.... and that's a shame!

i've snet an e-mail to alex at DCR to say what we're trying to do. no reply yet.

so that's it really!

i personally would like to go out on the thu/fri and follow the 2DT for a day and then trail ride the other. trail ride to a spot on the TT course and watch the GP, move on to another view point and then another etc etc.

i prefer to follow a race though even if it is by radio so i would move at lunchtime between the 2 races. that's just my style.

it really is the most remarkable holiday....

Taffy

scouser!

you've gone all quiet on us!

read and weep ma friend!

Yes,
I am quiet due to the failure of my laptop...so my wife and daughters get 1st shout on this computer!

I like the idea of watching a few different events all packed into same couple of days. And get in a trail ride to join it all up! So I just need to get my bike running! And then beg for forgiveness and an invite!!!

right. posting this as i've briefly spoken to taffy.

first off we could do with a rough idea of numbers. then we can look to plan things.

I would like to attend. Can I be the unofficial US ambassador? lol. Will anyone be available to pick me up, or should I bring my rollerblades?

cant see there being too much trouble with that.

RE: Re: RE: UK force ride 2008

whereever you land brendan you'll be about 10 miles from one of us so we got you covered!

RE: Re: RE: UK force ride 2008

Ok, thank you very much everyone. I plan on attending. Looking at the dollar/pound exchange rate, I have a feeling that I am going to feel like a 3rd world citizen visiting an industrialized nation. lol. Is there a UHE UK date set yet, so I can put in my vacation request? Are there any plans to visit the Husaberg HQ in Sweden?

RE: Re: RE: UK force ride 2008

brendan i've done a date at the top of thee page mate. 23/24/25 august would be good. that's when we want to be in the isle of man. sat/sun/mon.

i suggest you go back to that and read it through.

the thing that concerns me is the cost. for all foriegners we have an extra flight or shipping cost and then at the other end we are in full B & B. it adds up. having said that you don't want anything else after you've had their B & B, afternoon tea, and a quality bed.

i'm feeling better about it alreadty!

regards

Taffy

RE: Re: RE: UK force ride 2008

mmmm...force ride at the manx gp then off to greece for the ISDE ...this could work!

RE: Re: RE: UK force ride 2008

Once I get my bike sorted. I am sure I will have a bike going for August....Thats if I am invited! Camping sounds a grin! B+B may be a bit awkward at that time , so camping may be only option.

scouser

we'd still back you to come but i think you need to put down some money before hand and we'd 'all' feel better!

at present my job encompasses a van that will hold 6 bikes, three people. it may even include a few ratbikes that can be used.

the date is in the middle of the holiday season so we need to get things sorted in the new year. we're all going to be brassic for a while but, you know. ASAP!

i'd start by booking the clag mooar and a big van on the ferry. we can shove everything in at the port. get to the 6-10 riders, book another van on and start to look at the other B & B etc.

how odes this grab people?

we do need everyone interested to SHOW THAT INTEREST!!!!!

regards

Taffy

RE: Re: RE: UK force ride 2008

Yeah, I am up for it...Need to check diary{work spreadsheet} to ensure i am free.
Think you will find I did put some money down....last time. I will have more chance of borrowing a bike this time as my old mates are coming back here. So even if mine is not ready again I will have a sub!
Any way...just to say I am interested!
