Hi people,
I have new 2011 fe450 (20H) . it starts fine when the engine is cold but everytime it gets hot after some slow technical stuff the bike wont start.
I let it cool for 20 minutes and it starts fine and works great, got have a cooling fan kit as well.
I ride with 3 other freinds that got identical bikes and they start perfect in the same conditions.

any ideas ?

No start?
Cranks but won't start?
Won't crank?
Totally dead?
Not dead but clicks?
Cranks, won't start. You hear the fuel pump cycle, you don't hear the pump cycle?

Just a tad of more info needed.

it cranks but wont start.
not sure about the pump but I think it's working because sometimes is starts for half a second then stops.
sounds as if the ignition/ fuel shuts itself that's why i suspected maybe something is wrong with the computer/electronic sensors
(or that it's really too hot and then it is some kind of protection)

everytime after about 20 minutes it cools down and starts instantly.

The most common problem would be a bad fuel pump. The key would be to listen for the pump running when you try to start it.

thanks,
i read some posts about it in the forum. usually relating to older models
is the pump and the problems similar for 2011 and newer models that work with injection as well ?

It was 2010's for sure, probably 2011's as well. 2009's seem to be OK.
The pumps heat seize and once they cool down they will spin again.

@nirr - there is plenty written about this problem in the "fuel" section of the forum.

I replaced my fuel pump with a unit supplied by CA-Cycleworks and never looked back.

make sure the starter torque limiter is not slipping and the engine is actually cranking over.

if it's the fuel pump, bump the start button and listen for the fuel pump to spin for 2 to 3 seconds, also if it is the fuel pump it will only get worst, shutting down more often, actually mine only quit while i was riding

A carbon copy of the symptoms I had. Had the pump replaced under warranty at 70hrs and 7 months old. The replacement 'pump' comes with the inline filter, flexible hoses and the bottom half of the wiring harness all as one unit so it's just plug & play to refit.

Sounds exactly like the fuel pump issue many of us have had. Contact your dealer about a warranty replacement. I've heard of a few people get stranded because of this.

You should take it down and have it scanned for fault codes. I was having the same problem and thought it was a fuel pump but after recovering a temp sensor fault i'm leaning towards that being the real issue. With the husaberg scan tool your able to tell how many times each fault has happened. Compare that to how many time's you think it's acted up on you.

Usually 1/2 hour to scan for faults that quit a bit cheaper then guessing on a fuel pump...
