Ok, here is what I know in a nutshell.
KTM made 18/20mm adjutable trips in the 03-04 era for the limited SMC's in 450/525 and the Upcoming SMR models. This was done for adjustability depending on rider style and need.
Both the top and bottom of the spindle on the triples is installed with a Nut and once BOTH nuts are removed you can see the "dot" as to where they are set either 18 or 20. That spindle comes out easily and is basically the eccentric for the adjustment. Takes about 20 minutes at the track to make the adjustment.
However the 09 Berg triples I saw do not have the "Nut" on the bottom of the spindle to remove because the bottom triple used a different spindle and it is Pressed into place. So even though the top clamp shows 18-20 they are NOT adjustable, they just use the early SMC/SMR top clamp because they already prolly have thousands and why change a part when you don't need to.
I am currently installing a set of 06 560SMR adjustable triples onto my 04 FS and there is some bearing issues that need to corrected to use the larger diameter "spindle/stem" and the seal at the bottom is different, so is the spacing on the overall head tube length but really a small issue to resolve it's only money.
