For the first time today i used a torque wrench to tighten up my forks in the clamps. the settings i was given are 15 & 20 nm, this appeared very slack and i could tighten them up more with an allen key quite easily. are these settings correct or could something have worn in the clamps ?

Chamber66, those values sound right, and I know it seems a little light, but there is a reason for not over tightening the fork legs. The top clamp, you can over tighten and be safe, but the lower clamp, if over tightened will distort the fork tube a little, this causes a mid stroke harshness in the fork action, and could potentially wear out your fork slider bushings prematurely. Hope this helps.

Chamber, one tip to get proper torque value on the forks, re-torque each bolt 5 or six times, as the clamps pull in around the fork leg, the other bolt will loosen as the other gets tighter. So go back and forth torquing the bolts until both have equal torque values. I also take extra special care, to make sure both forks are set at the same hight above the top clamp, some times an eyeball will do, but I measure them.

hi tighten upper triple to clamp to 15 Nm in 3 stages and the lower triple to clamp to 10 Nm in 3 stages :D
