Hello,I have a '91 501 and I'm trying to switch some parts from my old KTM onto it.I was wondering how I should go about switching the lower mounts on the forks so I can put my other brake and wheel on the front. The other bike is an '85 KTM 125 with a newer front end and huge free-floatingbrake.The triple clamps have been on my 'Berg for years now,but the front brake is not strong enough for my taste so I'm switching the wheel and brake assembly.I just wanted to know if it's possible to switch the mounts on the bottom leg of the forks and how to do it.As I said the forks are the same size and similar models.

Thank you for listening to my gibberish, all info is appreciated.Brandon Chartier!

Brandon,

If the tubes are in fact the same diameter, I would expect that the easiest way would be to simply swap the fork tubes between the bikes. Of course you will have to measure up the tubes and bushings a little more accurately, and make sure that the internals will fit up properly.

However, if they don't measure up to be the same, they typically don't make it very easy to get the bottom brackets off of the tubes. I would not be of much use in advice for that procedure.

The bushings are in fact the same size as well as the upper and lower fork tubes, the only thing I don't know is how the mount screws off or whatever it does.I am happy to hear a useful reply. Thanks for the info.
