Hi guys, this is only my second post on here, and I have an odd question for all of the berg buffs out there. I am needing to replace the sixth gear on the mainshaft of my 97? 501 FC. I say 97? because I only know that it is kinda old but newer than a 96. I talked with Motortoxica and they have a gear for a 501 FE but not a 501 FC. I was wondering if I could use this gear with no adverse effects. Thanks for any help, Jack.

No you can't use the FE gear, it has more teeth on it than your FC gear has and will not mesh correctly with the 6th gear wheel on the secondary shaft.
You can use it though if you buy the mating FE 6th Gear Wheel on the secondary shaft. The gap between 5th and 6th will be slightly larger though but your top speed could be higher if you were willing!

Dale Lineaweaver used to have lots of early FC transmmission parts, you might PM him and see if he has any left!

Regards,

Joe

Thats what I figured, I think it was Dan, couldn't tell me the gear count and told me to ask on here. He was right! Thanks alot guys.
